Inks Lake was created by a new Colorado River dam in 1938, and the Civilian Conservation Corps was enlisted further develop the surrounding park land by constucting roads and the park's boat house and dock. Visitors can enjoy camping, backpacking, and hiking. Since Inks Lake stays at a constant level, droughts do not affect water-related activities such as lake swimming (unsupervised beach), boating, water skiing, scuba diving and fishing.
