Austin: Texas Independence Walking Tour

April 27, 2019 - 10:00am to 2:00pm
Actors depicting soldiers

Please join us for a Texas Independence Walking Tour featuring actors portraying Oakwood Cemetery "residents" who helped Texas win its independence 1835-1836, the Texas Revolution flags, and historic art depicting the key events.

You’ll learn about our heroic Texans who:
• Fought in the Battles of the Texas Revolution
• Survived the Alamo
• Escaped the Goliad Massacre
• Joined in the Runaway Scrape
• Helped form the Republic of Texas Government

Our 45 minute walking tours start every ~30 minutes between 10 am-1pm near the Oakwood Chapel. Kids under adult supervision are welcome, but please leave your pets at home and wear closed-toed shoes

The event is sponsored by Save Austin's Cemeteries (SAC), a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Austin’s historic cemeteries in partnership with the City of Austin. Donations for the tour are welcome to support preservation projects.

Go Green – SAC encourages carpooling, using mass transit, or biking when attending our events.
